Beer and Food pairing … What is that? If you are like me this is a rather new concepts but it is slowly sinking in. In the past, I would select a beer based on what I was in the mood for at the time. This went on for months until a friend invited us to a beer and food pairing party. I wasn't sure what to think of this so I started doing a little research and found many useful hints and suggestions. The Idea is to basically find a beer that compliments your food of choice. This pairing is supposed to bring out the flavors in both the food and the beer. I came across this article that introduces the basic concepts with a few of our favorite game day foods. Check it out Click Here.

Have you ever wondered what your beer of choice said about your personality? Well, a report from FNC iMag claims to have your answer. Click Here to read the entire article and see where you fit in. I don't ever put stock in articles like this but figured it was something fun to report on. The list of beers and personality traits is short, in fact they only define 6 beers drinkers but see where you might fit in. As a home brewer you will probably agree with me. Find your beer and let me know what you think.

Grow your own Beer???

Have you ever wanted to take next step in the ultimate home brew? The latest trend with home brewers seems to be expanding into the home grown hops. It started with the rising cost of hops but now many people are finding it the best way to get a brew that is truly unique. For the most part it takes very little effort to start growing your own. Other than just a little bit of sun light and water the hardest part tends to be setting up a place for them to grow. Because they are a vine they need to have a platform to grow up on. It might take a little while to figure out what works best for you and whatever area you use to grow your hops. I might not have a green thumb and in fact I have problems even getting grass to grow in my own front yard but this seems like it might be worth a try. Check out the article Growing the Perfect Pint for more information

Home Brew Gadget of the Month

Looking for an easy way to thoroughly clean your beer bottles? The Clean Bottle Express is probably what you need. I ran across this little tool a few weeks ago and figured it was just another gimmick. Somehow I talked myself into buying it and I’m glad I did. I really don’t have a problem with sediment in my bottles except when I give out samples to friends. They always forget to rinse out the bottles when they are done and it leaves a nice layer of gunk at the bottom. I gathered up my dirtiest bottles and I hooked the Clean Bottle Express up. It cut through all the grime without a problem. One thing I did learn is my 18 volt drill is probably too much and a smaller one works best. Click Here to check out it out for yourself .
